This past winter season, we have grained experience sourcing top-quality okra in Senegal, and shipping it to key European markets. Okra is a highly-perishable vegetable that does not survive sea container transport, but its high margins allow it to be economically shipped by air freight.
Senegal features direct flights to Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, Madrid, Barcelona among European cities, as well as Dubai in the middle east.
Our okra fields are currently growing in northern Senegal and harvests are expected to start in mid-July.
While the fields are being grown by local Senegalese farmers, they are undergoing a complete fertilization and phytosanitary program on par with global best practices (e.g. Okra PIP guidelines developed by the European Union). The local producers are being mentored by our staff of agronomists, with daily oversight of crop progress.
Besides direct cultivation guidance, our staff agronomists provide continuous mentoring to local farmers on agricultural best practices.
